2011 Southern Youth Baseball Division Tie Breakers

Tie Breakers for teams finishing with the same record in each division shall be as follows:

1) Head to Head Records - this would apply to all ties involving two or more teams for any position in the standings.

2) If the tie is for 1st place in a specific division and head to head records do not resolve the tie, then a championship playoff will be played. There will be no playoff or tie breaker games for positions other than 1st place. If there is a tie for 2nd, 3rd, 4th etc, not resolved by head to head records, the teams finishing in the specific position will be considered tied for the season. (Refer to the all-star selection process for rules about how the all-star managers will be determined in the event of tie's) other than for the championship.)

    A) 2 teams tie for 1st place - a championship game will be played, with the winner being named division champion. (A coin toss will determine home team before
         the game.)

    B) 3 or more teams tie for 1st place - a single elimination bracket will be drawn up by the board, with numbers assigned to each bracket spot. The managers of
the tied teams will then draw numbers to determine which bracket seed their team will fill. (A coin toss will determine the home team before each game.)

*Championship playoffs will only be played to determine 1st place. If there are more than 2 teams involved in the championship playoff, the playoff is only used to determine 1st place in the division.  None of the results of the other playoff games will have any bearing on 2nd, 3rd, 4th, etc. The other teams involved in the playoff will all be considered tied for 2nd place in the division regardless of how many teams that are tied.
